Hello Friends,
Before I begin I would like to briefly explain in a few sentences what Global Community Engagement (GCE), is all about. GCE is a non-profit organization that works with underprivileged children of Dominican and Haitian decent, in Santiago, Dominican Republic. This organization provides learning services to these children who work extremely hard in the busy streets of Santiago, earning only a few cents a day. Some of these children are fortunate enough to visit Accion Callejera, which is a social service organization that provides these children, who are at social risks with an alternative; to succeed. The values that Accion Callejera enforces to these children are respect, dignity, solidarity, commitment, and faith.
I have been blessed with the opportunity to participate as a member of GCE for a second time. During the fall semester at Florida International University, GCE will fundraise to be able to put together donations of school supplies, hygiene items, clothing, and toys for the underprivileged children of the Dominican Republic. The majority of these children do not have parental guidance, lack sufficient education and everyday essentials that we take for granted. This organization not only helps change the lives of disadvantaged children, but it definitely changes your own life as an individual. I fell in love with this project and hope to continue with it as long as I possibly can. It has helped me realize what is truly important in life and what I feel, is my calling.
In order for this project to continue with its unforgettable success of touching the lives of many people; I am asking you, friends, and family to kindly be a part of helping us out with any sort of donation. Whether it is $5, or $50, anything will help and it will all go out to such an inspiring and magnificent cause. If you are willing to make a donation, you will receive a letter from GCE recognizing your donation as we are tax exempt.
